It was a game that featured six goals, three for either side, cards, close call and one that kept the sizeable crowd hooked from the first whistle to the last – it even included the rarity of an own point in the favour of the Clans.
There was also the drama of the referee wearing the same colours as the home side, in their new jerseys, which led to a point for the Clans when on e of the Irelanders mistook the official for a team mate.
The Irelanders benefited from some slack defending that will have disappointed the Clans when they reflect upon it as Kevin Keelan and Johnny Lynch reaped the rewards from a loose kickout and resultant loss of possession to give their side a dream start an two goals within the opening 10 minutes. However, the Clans hit back to lead by apoint from half time 2-05 to 2-04.
